Recent Perry High graduate Samara McConnell, an Ole Miss signee representing Arizona Pole Vault Academy, cleared a personal-best 13-1.50 (4.00m) to place second in the girls high school section at the Vaulter Club Vaulter Magazine National Championships at the Big Red Barn in Sun City, Calif. McConnell was edged by Casteel graduate, Kansas signee and AZPVA teammate Taylor Starkey based on fewer overall misses in the competition. Starkey had five total misses in comparison to six for McConnell.
